The beautiful Angus Glens must be one of Scotland's best-kept secrets and just 4 miles from Kirriemuir at the gateway to this lovely part of the world is East Balloch Farm Cottage.

It stands on a very quiet byway, in the midst of a smiling countryside of fields and woods with views to the hills behind, with attractive, secluded and enclosed gardens (furniture) to front and rear and plenty of off road parking.
The real surprise comes when you go inside however, where the accommodation cannot fail to delight. Amazingly spacious and able to accommodate nine people in comfort, plus a further two on a bed settee (additional charge) the house has been modernised and refurbished to a very high standard.
The large country kitchen has an oil-fired Rayburn and additional electric cooker, there is a most comfortable sitting room with wood burner and French doors to the garden, a family/dining room, snug with open fire and five bedrooms and three bathrooms, one en suite.
If the house is all you could wish for, the area too, is well worth exploration. The glens, Clova, Prosen and Isla, must surely be your first stop and there you will find superb opportunities for walking and cycling. Clova in particular stretches right up to the edge of the Cairngorm National Park.
Excellent fishing and shooting are available locally. Walk or cycle along a quiet byway to spooky Balintore castle (4.5m, a classic ruin now under renovation) or walk the Cateran Trail - 64 miles full of breathtaking landscapes with a wide range of changing terrain.
Also in the area, bird lovers will find the RSPB reserve at Kinordy is just down the road. Golfers have the choice of several excellent courses at Kirriemuir and Alyth, as well as the prestigious Rosemount course at Blairgowrie (17m all facilities). The Championship courses at Carnoustie (25m) and St Andrews (35m) are also within easy travelling distance.
Should you decide to make a break for the coast, the fabulous beach at Lunan Bay (30m) is to be highly recommended. If you take the road up Glen Isla, you will emerge on the Braemar Road, which will take you up to all the attractions of Royal Deeside (37m) - Balmoral, Mar Lodge, the Linn of Dee, to name but a few. And on the way you will pass the Glenshee ski-ing area, for which East Balloch Cottage is also very convenient.
Kirriemuir itself is a charming wee town, the birthplace of J M Barrie of Peter Pan fame and with its own Camera Obscura for good measure. It has a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants etc.
To the south, for serious shopping and organised entertainment, you have Dundee and Perth, both of which have excellent theatres. Once over the Tay Bridge at Dundee, St Andrews and all the attractions of Fife await you.
