This charming apartment, on two floors, is attached to Reswallie House, a gracious Georgian country mansion situated just three miles from Forfar in Angus and eight miles from Glamis Castle, the family home of the late Queen Mother.

The apartment is completely self-contained, with its own access and parking.   It opens on to a lovely flower-filled walled garden, with furniture and barbecue, perfect for relaxing with a book or an evening drink.  The baronial sitting room (former billiard room to the main house) has pine panelling, parquet floor and huge log fire - surroundings in which you could well believe that you were in the 'Big House' itself.  In addition, on the ground floor, there is a fully fitted modern galley kitchen and WC.  The log store, boiler room and utility room are in an adjacent outbuilding. A spiral stone staircase in the turret leads you up to the double and twin bedrooms and the wonderful Victorian bathroom which features a huge tub and traditional chrome shower (all recently replumbed - plenty of hot water!).

This is a very peaceful and rural area, but there is much of interest round about.  There are  lovely sandy beaches, notably at Lunan Bay and St Cyrus, within a half hour drive, while in the other direction you can make a day's excursion to Royal Deeside.  There are local golf courses at Forfar, Edzell, Montrose and Kirriemuir, or if you fancy pushing the boat out, why not play the legendary Open courses at Carnoustie (16m) and St Andrews.  A few miles drive beyond 'Kirrie' (birthplace of J M Barrie of Peter Pan fame) will take you into the beautiful Angus glens, which are definitely among Scotland's best kept secrets, where there is excellent walking and scenic picnicking to be had.  Wildlife enthusiasts can visit the RSPB reserve at the Loch of Kinnordy while trout fishing for two rods can be arranged on Roscobie Loch, which is a few minutes walk through the woods from the apartment.  A tennis court is available by arrangement.

Dundee too, with all the leisure and shopping facilities one would expect from a major city, is just 20 minutes' drive from the Apartment.  You can visit Captain Scott's vessel Discovery which is moored in the harbour there, whilst just across the Tay Bridge historic St Andrews and the Kingdom of Fife await exploration.

Reswallie is 75 miles north of Edinburgh and just 55 miles from Aberdeen, both of which have international airports.

Heating is by oil central heating (£20 INCLUDED) and open fire.  Electricity, bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permittedin the house.

We loved Reswallie. The house and surroundings are so beautiful we spent hours in the garden taking photographs. The greenhouse was a lovely place to sit and read a book. We shall tell all our friends about this special place. Thanks for the warm welcome and fresh eggs.
