Cellardyke, FifeGuest Rating
The East Neuk of Fife, near St Andrews on Scotland's east coast, is well known for its picturesque fishing villages. In one of these, Cellardyke, is Seaside Cottage, which backs right on to the shore with spectacular views over the Firth of Forth and the Isle of May.

This delightful 18th century fisherman's cottage is full of character, beautifully refurbished and provides excellent, most comfortable family accommodation on three levels. On the lower ground floor is the cosy living room, with wood-burning stove and a door to the back garden through a modern kitchen which opens to a small decked area (with furniture).
On the ground floor is a double bedroom with French doors to a Juliet balcony, bathroom and further small sitting room, again with a door to a Juliet balcony. Both of these rooms have lovely sea views. On the top floor is a spacious twin bedroom, with en suite WC.
At the end of the stone flagged garden is an outbuilding, on the roof of which, right against the sea wall, is a large sheltered terrace (again with furniture), providing yet another opportunity to enjoy the fabulous views. There is free on-street parking on the street to the front of the house.
Cellardyke is a quiet little village with old narrow streets and a little beach. It adjoins the busier little town of Anstruther, which has all facilities (including some excellent restaurants and what is reputedly Scotland's premier fish and chip shop) within walking distance.
It also has a Fisheries Museum and St Andrews is only 10 miles away. From Cellardyke you can embark on enjoyable walks along the Fife Coastal Path, visit Kellie Castle, Scotland's Secret Bunker or the local cheese factory, all of which are nearby.
Then, of course, there are the many fine golf courses in the area, all of which welcome visitors, or you can take boat trips to view the Stevenson lighthouse and seabird colonies on the Isle of May.
Inland, Mary Queen of Scots’ fairytale palace at Falkland should be on the itinerary, while the Fife Deer Park near Cupar, or Craigtoun Country Park outside St Andrews (which offers an adventure playground, bouncy castle, crazy golf and even a miniature railway) are other attractions that will please the children.
A day out in Edinburgh, taking the train across the Forth Bridge from Cupar or Kirkcaldy, is another possibility.
Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
