The King's Highway sounds a very grand address indeed. In fact, it is a tiny, leafy lane on the edge of the tiny village of Largoward, about 7 miles from St Andrews in the East Neuk of Fife.

It is here, tucked away behind a high hedge that you will find Easter Cottage, a welcoming and altogether delightful semi-detached cottage, in its own extensive, enclosed and very private garden (furniture and BBQ) with lovely views away to the Firth of Forth.
Newly refurbished, inside it is bright and neat as a new pin, superbly equipped and surprisingly extensive too. The furnishings are uniformly modern and of a high standard. It is likely that the living room, with seating accommodation at one end and kitchen area at the other (with doors to both front and rear gardens), will prove to be the focal point of the house, especially as it also has a small table where smaller parties can eat.
The formal dining room will come into its own when larger parties are in residence and as both these rooms have televisions, there can be a choice of viewing as well. There is also a family bathroom and a utility room.
The three double bedrooms (one with king-size bed and one with super king-size) are all very stylishly presented. All on one level, it provides a safe and peaceful environment for children, pets and guests of limited mobility.
Fife is a wonderful place for a holiday. Nearby Anstruther has all facilities, including Scotland's official premier fish and chip shop!
There are golf courses galore, from the Old Course downwards, beautiful beaches, the Fife Coastal Path to walk, quaint fishing villages and a superb infrastructure of facilities and visitor attractions, such as the local cheese factory. Nearby Kellie Castle, Scotland's Secret Bunker and Falkland Palace should not be missed.
It is accessible too, easily reached by road and rail and in the unlikely event that you may not find enough to do locally, you are within easy distance of Edinburgh, the Highlands beyond Perth and even Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
The quiet byways around the cottage make for good cycling country. Those interested in ornithology can take boat trips from Elie to view the vast seabird colonies on the Isle of May, while children may enjoy the Scottish Deer Park near Cupar.
Historic St Andrews is always going to be a particular attraction when in this part of the world. This would be a very handy place to stay if visiting student sons or daughters at Scotland’s oldest university and the town is also steeped in often turbulent history, as the ruined castle and cathedral bear witness.
There are the magnificent West Sands for bathing, playing on the beach and dog walking for miles. Add to the above some great eating places, good shops and the many attractions at Craigtoun Park just outside the town and there is very little left to wish for here.
Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
