Forester's Cottage, situated within its own large, enclosed garden (swings, sand pit) on the Mountquhanie Estate near historic St. Andrews (12m) in the Kingdom of Fife, was once two cottages which have now been tastefully combined to offer spacious holiday accommodation.
Within its 'chocolate box' exterior it has a pleasant sitting room with log fire, a kitchen/dining room, double bedroom, two twin bedrooms a bathroom with shower and separate shower room. There are, in addition, two further bedrooms in the attic, which are reached by open steps and are therefore ideal for older children.
The setting should appeal to all ages, for it is tranquil and relaxed and yet there is lots to do both on the Estate and further afield. The Estate itself offers a signed Nature Trail, tennis, burn fishing, agate hunting and rough shooting. Keen golfers are spoilt for choice with the number of courses in the area. There are superb sandy beaches at St Andrews and Tentsmuir (7m), and guests can visit the Sea Life Centre at St. Andrews, Captain Scott's Discovery, now moored at Dundee (9m), Scotland's Secret Bunker near Anstruther, and the beauties of Falkland Palace (14m), Kellie Castle (22m), to name but a few. Or leave the car and take the train from Cupar (5m - all facilities) to Edinburgh or Dundee. The choices are endless. A little further distant, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, the Highlands above Perth and the Angus glens and Royal Deeside can all be visited within a day's drive.
