Is situated on a large, privately owned country Estate in the Kingdom of Fife, near Cupar (5m) and St. Andrews. Dating from the 16th Century and originally two cottages, its private setting affords a pretty outlook over rolling parkland, where rabbits in abundance and the occasional red squirrel may be seen.
Tastefully modernised to form a spacious, oil centrally heated property, Loanfoot Cottage benefits from its own enclosed, sheltered garden, where children will enjoy the sand pit and swings, while the cottage's diamond paned, arched windows give it a wonderfully quaint appearance.
The Estate is ideally situated for exploring the Fife coast, with its pretty fishing villages and beaches, and of course, the historic university town of St Andrews (12m). The bustling little town of Cupar (5m) has all facilities, in particular some interesting shops, and guests can take the train from there to Edinburgh across the Forth Bridge, or Dundee, the gateway to the Angus glens, which is only 9 miles away across the Tay Bridge. Perth (23m) and points north into the Highlands are also easily accessible for a day excursion.
On the Estate itself, guests can enjoy fishing (by permit) rough shooting, tennis, a signed Nature Trail and agate hunting. There are many superb beaches in the area, notably at St. Andrews and the lesser known but quite as attractive Tentsmuir Forest (9m).
Oil fired central heating and a supply of logs for the open fire are INCLUDED. Bed linen and towels may be hired. Pets are welcome by arrangement.
