St Monans is one of the most attractive of the little fishing villages in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, and just as the road starts to rise away from the harbour, in a corner position with fine sea views, is Seaspray, a refurbished and most comfortable holiday home for four to five people.
To make the most of the outlook, there are enormous picture windows in the L shaped sitting/dining room, where the blonde wood flooring contributes to the light and airy feel. There is gas central heating and an open fire so you can be as cosy as you like all year round while you watch the constantly changing and mesmerising seascape outside. Dolphins are frequent visitors, especially in summer, and the house is a perfect vantage point for watching them swim past.
The modern kitchen is very well equipped, one double bedroom has an en suite shower room, and there is another double/twin room with zip-link beds and a further bath/shower room.
Outside, the fenced garden (FURNITURE) is on various levels; the highest is a decking area outside the house, with a grassed area below, and then the rocks down to the shore.
Seaspray is just a few hundred yards from St Monans' famous seafood restaurant, and there is also a pub and various shops in the village. There are lovely coastal walks, pleasant local golf courses to play, while from Elie (3m) you can hire cycles and boats or take boat trips to view the seabird colonies on the Island of May. If you potter along the coast for long enough, by way of the neighbouring villages of Anstruther and Crail, you will come to St Andrews (14m by direct route) with its golf courses, long sandy beaches and historic ruined castle and Abbey. Just outside St Andrews, there is Craigtoun Park with boating, trampolines, miniature railway, crazy golf etc.
You can take the train to Edinburgh (46m) from the bustling market town of Cupar (14m), head off to Perth (40m) and the Highlands, or strike west to Stirling (55m) and the Aberfoyle and the Trossachs beyond.
Bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED. Heating is by gas-fired central heating (INCLUDED) and open fire (starter pack of logs INCLUDED). Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking within the cottage.
