Callwood Smiddy is in the countryside 4 miles west of Aberfeldy (shops/hotels/restaurants) in Perthshire - ideally placed for exploring all of central Scotland and the mid-west coast, for golf and walking on the surrounding hills, and for watersports and fishing on lovely Loch Tay 2 miles away. The busy tourist towns of Pitlochry and Perth are 30 minutes and 45 minutes respectively. There is a pub and restaurant in the village of Kenmore within 2 miles.

Callwood Smiddy is a truly delightful cottage, charmingly designed within the original 3ft-thick stone walls of a blacksmith's forge dating back 200 years, and one tenant told us that were it her house, she didn't think she could ever bear to let it.... she would love it too much! This will surely be most people's opinion as a lot of time, thought, and work has been invested in its conversion (and considerable refurbishment in 2011) , with comfort and convenience internally matching the very pretty views externally.

It is double-glazed, detached and self-contained, with its own access and parking, and has a private patio (with furniture and barbecue) that faces south to the woods and hills of Breadalbane on the far side of Loch Tay.

Heating is by wood-burning stove and electricity (£10 INCLUDED). Bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED. We regret neither children under 5, nor pets, are allowed.  Smoking is not permitted within the house.  Wi-Fi access is available, subject to provider.

We had a wonderful week at the cottage and intend to go back at some time in the future. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the countryside round about was beautiful (we woke up one morning to red squirrels running round a tree a few feet away) All in all it was a really enjoyable break.

You should have a category of "excellent". This would apply to our stay at the cottage and to the owners.

Just what we wanted - a relaxing, restful time! We loved the wood-burning stove as it made the cottage so cosy. Would recommend this cottage to friends. Happy New Year!!

It's a peaceful place, well-equipped and tastefully furnished, and our landlords are very friendly and helpful people. One week is not enough for this lovely countryside... A walk to the summit of Schiehallion is a breathtaking experience.

A cosy, well-equipped cottage, friendly hosts, and an area of stunning natural beauty - these were for us the ingredients for an unforgettable holiday! There's so much to see and do - one week is simply too short. So we?ll be back...
