This traditional cottage has been lovingly refurbished and tastefully decorated throughout, with plenty of original character. The comfortable sitting room is the ideal place to sit back, relax and enjoy the multi-fuel stove that keeps it very nice and toasty.
The attractive kitchen is very roomy and light with a lovely range to cook on, a traditional Belfast sink and a dining area alongside where you can gather together for evening meals or informal breakfasts.
Upstairs is a spacious double bedroom with a king-size bed and a lovely dressing table area, an attractive twin bedroom and a neat bathroom that looks out over the garden.
Outside there is parking for two cars in the off road gravel drive just past the house, where there is also a grassed garden area (with furniture). There is another seating area by the front door that looks towards the green where children are sure to love the little playground and mini football pitch.
You can walk out on several paths that surround the village and fishing is available on the River Tay and River Isla, as well as in some of the nearby lochs (fishing map provided in the cottage). The village of Murthly (2.5 miles) has a small grocery store/PO and is also home to the Uisge Restaurant that serves excellent meals with fresh local produce.
The famous golf course at Gleneagles is only 30 miles away and the ‘home of golf’ at St Andrews is also easily reachable for a day trip with wonderful, expansive views to enjoy from the Tay Road Bridge as you cross the River Tay en route.
Bikes can be hired from Dunkeld (6 miles) if you fancy exploring on two wheels and whilst there, the beautiful Cathedral is certainly worth a visit so you can admire the intricate architecture and wander in the peaceful gardens on the banks of the River Tay.
Just outside Dunkeld at the Loch of the Lowes RSPB reserve there is lots of wildlife to spot including a famous pair of breeding ospreys that you can see up close via a webcam feed (in season). Pitlochry (19 miles) is known for its fish ladder that helps the salmon make their way up river and there are observation areas that allow you to track their progress. It is worth driving a bit further on so you can take in the Queen’s View (26 miles) that has an absolutely stunning view out over Loch Tummel.
The market town of Blairgowrie (6 miles) is the nearest place to stock up on supermarket supplies and there are two championship 18-holf courses just outside the town, as well as a 9-hole ‘wee course’ that is great for beginners. The Ski Centre at Glenshee is under an hour’s drive away, with skiing and snowboarding in winter and mountain biking in the summer months.
The bustling city of Perth is just 15 miles away and there are park and ride facilities if you prefer not to drive right into the centre. There is a wide range of shops, pubs and eateries and history enthusiasts will enjoy the Perth Museum and Art Gallery, the Black Watch Museum set within Balhousie Castle and the impressively grand Scone Palace just outside the city.
