Overview

A completely self-contained wing of Allt Mor House, a listed Georgian carriage house, it is accessed by the quietest of country lanes from the village of Strathtay and is in a lovely peaceful situation.

Inside, it has been imaginatively converted to provide cosy and comfortable holiday accommodation on two floors. The outside door brings you straight into the sitting room that is well lit, with windows on three sides.

Once the curtains are drawn at the end of the day, good cheer will be supplied by the wood-burning stove, which is interestingly situated under the open tread stairs which lead up from the sitting room to the two prettily furnished bedrooms. Through from the sitting room is the spacious dining kitchen that is well-equipped and traditional fitted with its plentiful pine units.

One of the most memorable features of Allt Mor is its wonderful garden - its elegant lawns flanked by trees and shrubs, sloping away at the end through an orchard area. From here the views across the Tay Valley are simply breathtaking and you would be hard-hearted indeed not to be beguiled by this lovely, peaceful vantage point on the hill, so far from busy roads.

Map & Local

The area is very popular for outdoor pursuits. The river between Strathtay itself (with shop) and Grandtully (with hotel) on the opposite bank, is a mecca for canoeists and white water specialists and of course, this being the Tay, it is also a world-renowned fishing river.

Aberfeldy (5 miles) has all facilities, including a leisure centre, while in the other direction Pitlochry (8 miles) is well known for its fish ladder and famous Festival Theatre in the Hills.

Just beyond Aberfeldy, the pretty village of Kenmore (14 miles) stands at the head of Loch Tay, where sailing and other water sports can be enjoyed and you can visit the Iron Age Crannog in the loch.

A little further afield, to the east from Pitlochry you can head across to the road to Braemar and Royal Deeside, or go west via Killin to the west coast. The area has some excellent walking of all grades of difficulty, from woodland strolls to the more challenging slopes of Schiehallion and Ben Vrackie.

Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
