Inside, the cottage has been furnished with both taste and style. The sitting room is large and bright, with a large picture window to the front that lets in plenty of light. The comfortable seating is the ideal place to relax in front of the cosy open fire.
The well-equipped open plan dining kitchen is also very spacious and has patio doors out to the garden, a constant invitation to the great outdoors. There is also a handy drying room for wet clothes and muddy boots.
All on one level there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin. The double room has an elegant brass bed the added advantage of an en suite shower room. The elegant twin room is light and airy and the additional bathroom means that both bedrooms have their own facilities.
Outside, the extensive garden has a secure area which pet owners will appreciate and a superb seating area at the top where you can relax in comfort over your evening glass of wine and take in the views. There is plenty of parking and a garage that provides secure storage for cycles and other equipment. The cottage also comes with fishing rights on the Lochay.
Situated at the south western end of Loch Tay, Killin has long been popular with visitors. It is divided by the picturesque Falls of Dochart (much featured on souvenir calendars) and has a good selection of shops and eating places.
Loch Tay offers a good selection of water sports, or, for a change, you can take your boat/surfer/kayak down to Loch Earn, where there are equally good facilities.
Walkers will find plenty to challenge them in the surrounding hills, while serious climbers will be interested to learn that Glencoe is only thirty miles up the road. Of course, the Lawers Range, Ben More and Stobinian are even closer, within just a few miles. Killin has its own golf course and there are other courses at St Fillans and Kenmore.
Alternatively, if you continue at Crianlarich, it is only another six miles to Tyndrum, where you have the choice of bearing right towards Oban, or heading up to Fort William. The latter choice will take you through the dramatic scenery of the Black Mount and Rannoch Moor and on to the even more dramatic scenery of Glencoe. This, of course, is a paradise for intrepid walkers and climbers and is also a ski centre for winter visitors. If you fancied a more structured walk, you could join the West Highland Way at Crianlarich, Tyndrum or Bridge of Orchy.
The west coast is under two hours drive away or within the hour you can be at Crianlarich and swing down to Loch Lomond. To the south, the romantic Trossachs are another favourite destination.
