Gartchonzie is a very recent most attractive conversion of an old stone barn which has a beautiful rural setting 1.5 miles west of Callander (great variety of shops, restaurants, The Rob Roy & Trossachs Visitor Centre) which is only a half-hour by car from Perth and Stirling, an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and is a gateway to the lovely Trossachs countryside originally made famous by Sir Walter Scott's romances.
The cottage makes an excellent centre from which to explore the great lochs of central Scotland such as Loch Katrine, Loch Earn, Loch Tay, or from which to visit Glencoe, Inveraray, Oban - even Mull, Fort William, and Loch Ness if you have the time. It is on a country road within a half-mile of the southern shore of Loch Venachar (swimming) where there are some 50 miles of cycle tracks disappearing into the Menteith Hills (mountain-bikes can be hired locally) with wonderful views across to the forested heights of The Trossachs; and it is just across the road from the Eas Ghobain Burn which tenants (only) are allowed to fish along a 1.25 mile stretch, free of charge.
Heating is by oil-fired central-heating which is INCLUDED , and a multi-fuel stove. Bed-linen is INCLUDED and towels can be hired. We regret pets are not accepted. Tenants are requested not to smoke within the cottage.
