Just a short walk from the shores of historic Loch Leven, near the village of Kinnesswood, about 4 miles from Kinross (all facilities)  is Loch Leven Cottage.  This charming, detached farm cottage stands in its own large grass garden with panoramic views across the valley to the Lomond Hills, beloved of walkers, parapunters and gliders!

The cottage has been carefully modernised and refurbished to provide bright and very comfortable accommodation for up to six people, with king, queen and twin bedrooms, a cosy living room with open fire, well-fitted kitchen, and the benefit of an additional sunroom with pool table.  Part of the garage is available for storing bikes etc.

Once snugly settled in, guests will find no shortage of things to interest them in the surrounding area.  In fact Loch Leven Cottage is ideally placed for access to many of Scotland's premier attractions.  It is just a few miles from the Edinburgh-Perth motorway, with Edinburgh 28 miles away to the south and Perth 20 miles to the north.  To the east is the Kingdom of Fife with its quaint fishing villages and, of course, famous St Andrews (28m).  To the west, you can head for Callander, the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, while the Highlands beyond Perth make for another excellent day out.

Nearer to the cottage, Loch Leven itself is a major attraction for several reasons. A visit to Loch Leven Castle, on an island in the middle of the loch and from which Mary Queen of Scots made her dramatic escape, should not be missed.  It is reached via by boat from Kinross, with plenty of time to stroll round the island before the return journey.  The loch is famous for trout fishing, with boats once again available for hire.  The loch is a SSSI and  bird lovers will find that the RSPB reserve at Vane Farm is close by.  One of its main attractions are the  tens of thousands of Pink Foot and Grey Lag Geese who put on fantastic displays as they rise up from the loch in the winter mornings to return again in spectacular style as the light fades. The loch is home to huge numbers of ducks, swans, waders and a host of others including osprey.

The cottage is on a path linking the Loch Leven Heritage Trail and the Michael Bruce Way, which offer either low level walking or some gentle hills.  Cyclists, too will enjoy the quiet roads and trails round about.  As befits a property in Fife, there is a golf course within half a mile of the house, with several others within a five mile radius.

Boredom is simply not an option at Loch Leven Cottage!

Bed linen, towels and oil fired CH are INCLUDED.  Private water supply.  Well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  Sorry, no smoking in the cottage.  Visitors with young children are advised that the cottage is very close to unfenced watercourses.

Please note that this cottage books from Friday-Friday.

Many thanks for your warm welcome. Cottage very warm and cosy and a credit to you. Enjoyed everything! Lovely and tranquil with a variety of great walks without having to worry about traffic. Plenty of interest with hang gliding and gliding, also the geese and swans which can be watched from the cottage. Highly recommended! Wll return!

We enjoyed our stay at Loch Leven Cottage very much. The cottage is very comfortable and you have done well on the important aspects - comfortable bed, good sized coffee mugs and a well-stocked fridge! We climbed Vane Hill at the RSPB Centre at Vane Farm and would recommend both. The views from the top of the hill are excellent and the staff at the centre are very friendly, with good food in the cafe. Many thanks for a wonderful weekend in this warm and welcoming cottage!

Chandler party, Australia 18/06/2010

We have had an absolutely marvellous time. The cottage was a wonderful relaxing retreat. We enjoyed walking around the loch and visiting the nearby towns. Particularly enjoyed climbing the hill (view is wonderful), golf at Kinross, gardens in Perth, meals and ales at the local pubs. The highlight however was the cottage and the wonderful relaxing locality. This was our first visit to Scotland and we leave with great memories.

Thank you for a warm welcome. It's a great cottage. Light, clean and airy. Full marks for not furnishing it with any old bits and bobs. Really enjoyed our holiday - such a great place and views.

The cottage is fantastic. No internet access, brilliant...but every other mod con you could need. Its position is great and there are hundreds of walks for the dogs.

A perfect weekend break. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful remote location. Spent lots of time walking the dog, enjoying the scenic countryside and the taste of good food. We found time to walk to Kinross along the nature trail but caught the bus back! Also took a drive to Falkland, a lovely little village with a couple of gift shops and lovely little tea rooms.

Craven Family, Clackmannanshire 23/12/2011

It was a lovely surprise to see the lights on the Christmas tree in the window when we arrived. Very thoughtful! The cottage was warm and well equipped and we had a wonderful Christmas with pretty walks and lots of food and pool games. Thanks again.
