It's not often you get a first floor apartment with its own front and back door, but then the Snow Goose Apartment is no ordinary flat!  It occupies a secluded position behind the Big House on a large country estate between Blairgowrie and Dunkeld in Perthshire, ideally situated for exploring the Angus glens, the Cairngorms, Braemar and Royal Deeside, or even Fife.

It gets its name from the snow goose weathervane on its roof and this is just one instance of its charm and character.  There is parking to front and rear, to the front in a sloping courtyard and to the rear in a large gravelled area beyond which is a raised orchard and extensive garden grounds where guests are welcome to stroll and sit.  Inside, there is an enormous living space, most comfortably appointed, and three excellent wood-panelled bedrooms,  one of which has a rainbow four poster bed which will delight any little girls in the party and others of a romantic disposition.  The other two can be configured either as doubles or twins.  Taller guests are warned that the corridor is quite low at one side.

The apartment has a lovely atmosphere.  It has been furnished in traditional style and is at once comfortable and distinguished, a little bit of gracious living on a cosy scale.  The owners are across the courtyard if you need them, but there is no sense of being overlooked and you can be quite private.

Many beautiful walks can be enjoyed right from the door - a track leads on to the hills behind.  If you are really energetic you needn't stop until you reach Glenshee or Braemar!!

Blairgowrie has all facilities, and on its southern edge is the famous Rosemount golf course, while in the other direction Dunkeld is a charming little town with a cathedral, and lots of little shops and eating places.  On the way, it is worth while stopping at the Loch of the Lowes, where in summer from the RSPB hide you can see the osprey sitting on their nest or fishing in the loch.  Just beyond the town, the Hermitage at Inver, a spectacular waterfall with enjoyable woodland walks is also well worth a visit.

Dunkeld is on the A9, so you can easily reach Pitlochry, Aviemore and even Inverness, or, by heading west, spend a day amidst the stunning scenery of Lochs Tummel and Rannoch.  There is sailing there and trout fishing very much closer to the cottage on nearby Butterstone Loch.  (If you are after salmon, the Tay or the Ericht are also not far distant.).  In winter, you are well placed for ski-ing at Glenshee.

Electricity, bed linen,  towels and the first £15 of oil-fired central heating are INCLUDED.  Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted within the apartment.
