You really can have it all at the Mill House, some 10 miles south of Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire. It has a most secluded and private situation surrounded by a charming garden (furniture) with small pond and a stream tumbling behind it. The garden is regularly visited by red squirrels, pine martens and a host of birds.
Accessed by tiny private lane, yet just a couple of minutes from the A9 Perth-Inverness trunk road, the house dates from about 1780, which accounts for its charm, but the comfort it offers is thoroughly 21st century, with a well equipped kitchen, and a most spacious living room with wood burner opening to an attractive conservatory, ideal for watching the garden wildlife. There are two downstairs bedrooms and a bathroom, and, upstairs, a delightful master suite with shower.
Behind the cottage a track leads up on to the hills, where you can walk or cycle. There are routes to suit all tastes, from a gentle stroll to Loch Dowally to cross-country adventures all the way to Kirkmichael. You can even walk over the hill to the pub at Dunkeld and take in the 13th century cathedral, (though it is 5 miles each way!). Pitlochry (all facilities) has its Theatre in the Hills, or, from Ballinluig, you can head for Aberfeldy and Loch Tay (water sports). Historic Killiecrankie and Lochs Tummel and Rannoch are other beautiful spots easily accessible from The Mill House, while Aviemore, the Cairngorms and Inverness are easily reachable for a day trip.
Bed linen, towels, electricity and £25 of oil-CH are INCLUDED. One dog welcome by arrangement, but sorry, no cats. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
