Tigh na Beithe  (the House of the Birch Tree) occupies a peaceful and delightful situation on the edge of the pretty village of Killin in the historic Breadalbane region of central Perthshire with the Lawers range behind it and lovely open views to the front.  The Cottage comes with fishing rights on the Lochay. The extensive garden has a secure area which pet owners will appreciate, and a superb seating area at the top where you can relax in comfort over your evening glass of wine and take in the views.  There is plenty of parking and a garage with secure storage for cycles and other equipment.  In addition there is a drying room for wet clothes and muddy boots.

Inside, it has been furnished and finished to a very high standard.  There is a cosy open fire in the sitting room, a well equipped open plan kitchen-dining room with patio doors to the garden, the double bedroom has an en suite bathroom with double shower, and the other bathroom is right alongside the twin bedroom.

Situated at the south western end of Loch Tay, Killin has long been popular with visitors.  It is divided by the picturesque Falls of Dochart, (much featured on calendars) and has a good selection of shops and eating places.  Loch Tay offers a good selection of water sports, or, for a change, you can take your boat/surfer/kayak down to Loch Earn, where there are equally good facilities.  Walkers will find plenty to challenge them in the surrounding hills, while serious climbers will be interested to learn that Glencoe is only 30 miles up the road.  Of course, the Lawers Range, Ben More and Stobinian are even closer, within just a few miles.  Killin has its own golf course and there are other courses at St Fillans and Kenmore.

The west coast is under two hours drive away, or, within the hour, you can be at Crianlarich and swing down to Loch Lomond.  To the south, the romantic Trossachs are another favourite destination.

Bed linen, towels, starter pack of fuel for the open fire, £15 of oil central heating and electricity per week (combined) are all INCLUDED.   Well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  No smoking within the property.

Thank you for this lovely comfortable cottage in it's wonderful surroundings. Lots to do for all the family, some lovely walks very close by. Climbed Ben Lawers..enjoyed a day of guided climbing & hill walking with an instructor from the "Ice Factor" in Kinlochleven...enjoyed the many castles on offer including the one next door. We all thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Crannog Centre - very informative.

It is a lovely cottage, very nicely furnished, we felt ourselves at home. A very nice place in Killin with beautiful view from lounge window. We had a lovely week with good weather and we enjoy it very much. For us it is a memorable week to never forget. Perhaps we will come back because it is a place to come back to.

Brilliant cottage, had a lovely stay & would love to return. Weather was good throughout our stay and we did plenty of sightseeing. killin is interesting and all round. Went to Glencoe which I love. Both our younger members had a good time which was essential! A thouroughly enjoyable time had by all who partook of the cottage invasion.

What can we say that hasn't already been said about this beautiful cottage? We have stayed in various cottages all over the UK from Cornwall to Scotland and this is by far the best! It's not about locality - holidays are taken for the area - but what makes a holiday is the accomodation. Top marks for the owners on a first class place! It is 5 star!! Little things make a difference like the flowers in the bedroom - a lovely touch. We felt so at home here - everything we needed was at hand. Killin is a lovely village (our 2nd visit). We recommend the back road around Loch Tay and a visit to the Crannog Centre - brillian history! We will be so sorry to leave! This has been one of the best places we have stayed in! We just don't want to go home!

Wow! What a fantastic area and brilliant location. Having two dogs the cottage location was a God send - not very often do you have a loch 5 mins away, not to mention a castle!! Have enjoyed discovering the area - the pass through Ben Lawers is just stunning and the sound of stags in the rutting season is incredible. For a fantastic fire and food the Inn at Falls of Dochart has to be tried! Killin is a great little village. Cannot really praise the area enough - wonderful walks and truly beautiful scenery!

Wallett party, Wigton 13/09/2008

Lovely relaxing "away from it all" week at this comfortable cottage - could easily live here! Weather quite mixed but never cold, however we still lit the log fire in the evening and it has a sofa each - bliss!

Wynnytzkyj party, Gloucester 24/05/2008

We feel we have been spolit rotten with this lovely cottage. Its peaceful location has been perfect for a tranquil getaway. Even our mad dog seemed to chill...that is until she saw the loch at the end of the road...completely barking...!!
