This enchanting first-floor studio conversion is part of a refurbished stables on the banks of the Allan Water, just outside the pretty town of Bridge of Allan (excellent shops and restaurants) near Stirling in central Scotland and is part of a private estate once owned by the family of the founder of the SAS, David Stirling.
The apartment is reached by a private entrance and cast iron spiral staircase, which takes you up to the light and sunny living area, a huge room with an end wall of natural stone, and a woodburning stove. It has a door to the private terrace which overlooks the river, perfect for sitting out with a relaxing 'sundowner' on a summer evening, after a day's exploring or sight-seeing. It is a very peaceful spot with absolutely no passing traffic, just the occasional train trundling across a nearby bridge over the river.
Once you have arrived at this tranquil and secluded apartment, you may well be loathe to leave it again, but if you do, you will find much of interest in the surrounding area. There are excellent road and rail links to all parts of Scotland. You can be in Edinburgh in under an hour, while historic Stirling, with its castle and Wallace Monument, is just a few minutes drive. Callander (14m), Loch Katrine, the Trossachs (17m) and Loch Lomond are within an easy drive or you can head north to the Highlands beyond Perth.
Those interested in water sports will find excellent facilities at Loch Earn (28m) and Loch Tay, while there are riverside walks in the immediate vicinity and, of course, great hill walking just a little further away. Being so central, there are excellent leisure and cultural facilities within easy reach of the apartment.
