Thornhill House is a detached, traditional house - once home to the local blacksmith - which is about one mile from the village of Thornhill (shop, pub, PO) in Perthshire, in the very heart of Scotland 10 miles west of historic Stirling (spectacular castle, Wallace Monument, rich associations with Robert Bruce) and 15 miles east of Loch Lomond.
Now carefully modernised and well appointed, it offers extremely comfortable and spacious accommodation for one or two families, and from its slightly elevated situation looks down onto almost one acre of attractive and tranquil gardens which are shared with the former smiddy and stables - now converted into two smaller holiday cottages sleeping two persons.
It is ideal for those wishing to visit much of well-known Scotland in a short time, being between the popular small towns of Aberfoyle (9m.) - see the Lake of Menteith the only lake in Scotland, and sail on Loch Katrine - and Callander (7m.) with The Blair Drummond Safari Park), with all the beautiful Trossachs countryside featured in Sir Walter Scott's histories, roundabout. Just north is Balquhidder and Breadalbane (Rob Roy country - superb for walking), and both Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily accessible by road (or rail from Stirling), and there are excellent road links north to Perth and beyond, and west to Glencoe and the West Coast.
Heating is by oil central heating (INCLUDED), and wood-burning stove. Bed-linen, towels and £15 of electricity are included. Pets by arrangement. No smoking within the cottage.
