If you've ever wanted to live like a Laird for a week on your own Highland estate, then Lynaberack may be the place for you. It stands in a magnificent, sunny situation in peaceful Glen Tromie beside the shallow river of the same name (fishing and endless fun for children), tucked away several miles up its own private road from the little town of Kingussie (6m, all facilities) with deer frequently coming to feed around the house in the evening. Surrounded by 12,000 acres of heather-covered hills, it is a perfect venue for parties who wish to hunt, shoot, fish, or families who wish to relax in privacy and safety.
The house itself is quite modern, rebuilt after a disastrous fire destroyed its predecessor, and provides spacious and comfortable accommodation for 16 people. (Further accommodation is available for staff if required.) The owners use the Lodge intermittently for their own shooting and house parties, so are well aware of what is required to make people comfortable in considerable numbers. The huge sitting room, with floor to ceiling windows looking up the glen, has an open fire and plenty of space for members of the party to spread in separate groups. There is a large formal dining room, while the kitchen has recently been completely refurbished and allows for catering in industrial quantities! There are four bathrooms and an additional downstairs cloakroom. There is also a gunroom and drying room, loads of parking round about, and three garages.
There is free fishing fishing between mid-March and mid-August, and a pass is also available for the Upper Spey Association Water. There are some 6 km double bank and 7 km single bank fishing on the River Tromie and 2km single-bank fishing on the Spey - all containing stocked and wild brown trout. In addition there are three easily accessible lochs (one with boat) with stocked brown trout.
The walking from the Lodge is quite splendid, and as the glen is broad and flat, the little single track road is also good for cycling. In addition to fishing on the Tromie and Spey, you can further enhance your role as Laird of the Glen with a bit of roe stalking (£40 per outing and an extra £50 for a successful stalk) in July. If you want to raise your sights still further and take a pot at a stag, this too may be possible in July if the weather is not too hot (£300 + VAT per stag or shot at stag). The Estate can arrange clay pigeon shooting in the glen. The attractions of Aviemore are only 14 miles away and it is just a further 8 miles to the Cairngorm chairlift, with ski-ing in winter and, of course, sailing on Loch Morlich on the way.
From Kingussie, too, you can be in Inverness in under an hour, or strike off to the west coast, Fort William or even Skye. The Lodge is most conveniently placed for travelling north and south.
Heating is by electric storage heaters, open fire and wood burning stove in the hall (all fuel INCLUDED). Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Well behaved pets by arrangement. Please note there is no TV reception. There is a telephone at the Lodge for incoming and local calls. A refundable householder's deposit of £500 is required. There is further accommodation in the Lynaberach Wing for two staff.
Reduced rates may apply for smaller parties at Off-peak times.
