Bowmore is a most comfortable and beautifully appointed, newly built bungalow, which stands in a quiet cul de sac in the picturesque Highland village of Fort Augustus (all facilities) at the foot of Loch Ness in Scotland's beautiful Great Glen.
The land on which it stands was once the vegetable patch cultivated by the monks of the Abbey here and it is still a green and leafy spot with the added advantages of garden furniture and a barbecue.
Inside it is possibly the sense of space and style which will first strike guests on entering. The house has been furnished to the highest of standards and offers bright and spacious accommodation.
The comfortably furnished sitting room has a wood-burning stove that creates a cheerful focal point. The large, bright and beautifully styled dining kitchen has all you could wish in terms of equipment and there are three elegant bedrooms, the master of which has a king-size bed and en suite facilities.
The talented owner has created a beautiful and practical holiday home, the quality of which is equal to its attractive surroundings.
The shores of Loch Ness are just a few minutes' walk from the cottage and Fort Augustus is where its waters funnel into the Caledonian Canal and tumble down in a series of spectacular locks.
One of the most relaxing ways of spending a fine day here is to sit in the sun and watch the yachts passing through while you enjoy your lunch on the terrace of one of the canal-side pubs and eating-places.
The wider area offers many attractions - boat trips on the loch, cycling on the Great Glen Way, walking in the surrounding mountains, fishing, pony trekking, a wonderful array of wildlife, to name but a few.
Lively Inverness, the 'capital' of the Highlands, can be reached in an hour. Visit historic Castle Urquhart on the way or explore lovely Glens Affric and Cannich. Even a day trip to Skye is easily achieved from Bowmore.
