Fisher's Cottage is a charming and not-so -little whitewashed terraced cottage which faces on to the Moray Firth in the village of Ardersier near Inverness.  Between it and the shore there is only the minor road which ends at the tip of the peninsula at Fort George (of which more later).  The cottage has uninterrupted views across the water and these can also be enjoyed from the terraced front garden (furniture, off road parking).

The cottage, not long ago just a shell, has been beautifully and creatively rebuilt and refurbished inside to provide a  most comfortable and stylish holiday cottage.  There is a snug sitting room,  a separate dining room,  a modern kitchen and also a downstairs shower room.  Upstairs are two bedrooms and a further bathroom.

The village dates from the mid 18th century and has 2 shops, a hotel, pub and PO.  At the tip of the peninsula you come to the narrows across from Chanonry Point, where pods of dolphins can often  be seen making their way into the inner Sound.  There, too, is Fort George, built as part of the pacification of the Highlands after the '45 rebellion and still an active army base today.  It is, however, also open to tourists and is a great attraction with a fascinating museum.  For further historical interest, visitors need look no further than the Battlefield of Culloden (8m), where the Stuart cause was finally lost and which retains its haunted air of melancholy even on the brightest day.

Inverness, the vibrant capital of the highlands is only 11 miles away and offers all kinds of cultural, sporting and shopping delights.  Castle Stuart, where the 2011 Scottish open is to be played , is only 3 miles from Fisher's Cottage.

Beyond Inverness, much of the best of Scotland awaits a visit.  Travel into the hills to lovely Glen Affric and Glen Cannich, where there is wonderful walking.  Visit the elegant Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer (and make time to visit the amazing chocolate shop), have a day on the Black Isle, continue north up to the Dornoch Firth and on to John o'Groats,  explore the glorious beaches and fishing villages of the sunny Moray Coast, or even make for Torridon for some amazing climbing, and the west coast and Skye.  With excellent road connections in all directions, you can do it all from Fisher's Cottage.

And if you want to fly in, Dalcross Airport is also very handy.

Bed linen, towels and electric heating are all INCLUDED.  Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.  Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.
