Glenurquhart Cottage has an ideal location in Highland countryside 2 miles from the village of Drumnadrochit (shops, Post Office, hotels, restaurants, cafe, Loch Ness Visitor Centre, Urquhart Castle) - just a half-hour drive south-west down the side of the Caledonian Canal (boats for hire) and Loch Ness from the city of Inverness (supermarkets, shops, theatre, sporting facilities).  It is only one hour from the famous west coast resort of Fort William (all facilities) where there is easy access to The Road to the Isles and Mallaig (car ferry to Skye) to Plockton and the bridge to Skye; to points further north such as Torridon and to The Moray Coast and The Black Isle.  All make this ideal for car-touring as well as walking, climbing, riding, golf, fishing, and skiing in Season, being just 50 minutes drive from both Aviemore in The Cairngorms and Aonach Mhor in the Nevis range.

This is a comfortable highland home which has been refurbished during 2009 to a high standard. It offers spacious accommodation with all the facilities on one level, thus making it particularly suitable for the less able.  Central heating, double glazing and a wood-burning stove ensure its year-round cosiness, while a separate bathroom, shower room and utility room make it also very practical.

It is south facing and stands on the prominent half acre site of the original farmhouse, quite apart from the steading, bothy and cottage on the former Polmaily Farm.  It has spectacular views across the large and secluded garden to the woods and hills of Glenurquhart and Loch Ness beyond.  The area is rich in wildlife and the garden is visited by a host of birds, roe deer, badgers, red squirrel and pine martens.  The cottage is half a mile form the nearest road, making it especially attractive for families with children and those with pets.  There are also lovely forestry walks which begin at the rear of the garden and lead to panoramic views towards Glen Affric and Loch Ness.

Heating is by wood-burning stove and CH and hot water from a separate oil-fired boiler.  Electricity, oil heating, basket of logs and bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED.  One well-behaved pet is welcome by arrangement.  Smoking is not permitted in the cottage (but there is an extensive garden where you can  indulge!).  Wi-Fi is available, subject to provider.

We have had a fantastic week - wish it was longer! The cottage is beautiful. The weather has been great - sunshine all week. We really enjoyed the Jocobite Tour of Loch Ness. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

This was an excellent location and Cottage to explore the Highlands! We went to Errogie, Ullapool, Skye, Applecross, Fort William and we walked around Glen Affric. We enjoyed the our stay here, liked a lot the quietness and the very nice overwhelming views. Some of us will be back!!

Many thanks for a clean, warm, comfortable cottage, perfect for a restful holiday. Places we visited and liked were Urquhart Castle, the open air Scottish Dancing and Pipe Band at Beauly every Thursday evening. Also the trip with Ecoventures at Cromarty to see the dolphins in the Moray Firth and also on land at Chanonry Point, Black Isle along with other places like Dornie Castle on our 7 day holiday. The cottage was central to these and many more places we would liked to have visited, and would return.

We arrived to a warm and clean cottage based in an ideal location for local mountain areas. Stunning views out of the front. The information in the drawers were really a big help and we were left with the basic supplies needed. The dishwasher was a really big treat for us! Great wildlife including deer in the field opposite across the road. Weather was lovely a couple of rainy days but the rest were sunny. All in all a wonderful week in a lovely clean cottage. Thank you
