Aviemore, Scottish Highlands

Aviemore, in the heart of the Highlands and right beside the Cairngorm Mountains, woke up in the 1960s from being a sleepy Highland village to become the wintersports and wildlife paradise it is today, with all the facilities that holiday makers could wish for.

And now there is yet another good reason to come here!  In a quiet residential area on the edge of the village is Tayvulin, a modern, beautifully presented and spacious home now available for holiday letting.

It stands in its secluded grass garden (furniture, patio) to which both its large, well-equipped dining kitchen and attractive sitting room (with open fire) have French door access.  Downstairs there is also a twin bedroom, shower and utility rooms, and upstairs a king-size double with en suite shower and Juliet balcony, a further double and a twin and another bathroom, also with shower.  The accommodation is therefore at once versatile and offering every comfort.  There is off-road parking for at least two cars by the back door.

Once you are so comfortably established at Tayvulin, you will doubtless find yourself with the dilemma of what to do first - there is just so much to choose from here.  With the mountain railway to whisk you to the top of the pistes, ski-ing and snowboarding on the Cairngorm are a given in winter, and Aviemore also has an ice rink.  At other times of year, that same range of mountains offers great walking and climbing, while Loch Morlich is famous for its watersports and breathtaking scenery.  Pony trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and canoeing can also be enjoyed locally.

There are also plenty of rather unique places to visit, such as the Sleddog Centre, the Reindeer Centre, Rothiemurchus Forest Park (much featured in the BBC Springwatch programmes and where you may spot all manner of native flora and fauna - even, perhaps, the elusive wildcat), the Highland Gem Museum and, again something completely different, Waltzing Waters at Newtonmore.

Visits to nearby Grantown on Spey, perhaps by the Highland Steam Railway, will afford you the chance in summer to see the nesting osprey, for this is where they first returned to this country some forty years ago and they have bred here each year since.  Further afield, Inverness is less than an hour's drive away and from there you can visit Loch Ness and explore further to north and west.

There is quite simply no chance of anyone being bored at Tayvulin!

Bed linen, towels, and the first £25 or each of gas CH and electricity are INCLUDED.  Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.  Wi-fi available, subject to provider.

PLEASE NOTE - Flexible start days may be available during quieter periods, please enquire for more details.  When letting this property at the lower tier rental please note that additional bedrooms may be locked and not accessible.

Lovely holiday home, a home away from home. All facilities great, everything you need. Our party of four adults and four children was well catered for. Would recommend to others and would love to stay again. Thank you.
