On a back road, almost halfway between the small country town of Kelso in The Scottish Borders and Berwick-on-Tweed on the Northumbrian coast and six miles from the small town of Duns, which has a good range of local services, Easter Cottage faces the village green in the centre of the tiny village of Swinton which, very conveniently, boasts one of the best restaurants in the area - highly regarded for both its food and its ale.

The traditional stone cottage, dating back to about 1800, is decorated in a simple, cosy decor that fits the style of the house, and the kitchen has been completely modernised with new fitted units, etc.  It has a log-fire in the sitting-room; a lovely private garden at the rear; a patio with barbecue and garden furniture; and parking for your car right at the door - an ideal cottage for a couple who like either to be private, or to meet the locals and not be too isolated.  It has immediate access to all of the Scottish Border Country and Northumbria as well as the east coast between Edinburgh and Newcastle and offers limitless sightseeing and sporting opportunities within this lovely area.

Heating is by log-fire (some logs INCLUDED), and electric central-heating (£10 INCLUDED).  Bed-linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Pets are welcome. There is no smoking in the house.

Well appointed cottage in quiet rural setting. Excellent base for touring the area well famed in U.K. history. The cottage was clean and contained all that we needed for a much sought after break. Back to work all too soon but well rested. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It is very nice and comfortable and very clean. The garden is very pleasant.

Mitchell party, Edinburgh 08/08/2009

We loved the cottage which was very cosy and well fitted out. Spent a couple of days relaxing in the lovely garden. Took long walks into Coldstream and Duns for food and drink and taxi home. Highlight of the week - the Fish & Chip van on the Thursday (a must).

Clarke party, Cumbria 20/09/2009

Enjoyed our stay in your cosy cottage - especially the open fire in the evenings. Weather has been great for walking. We especially enjoyed visiting the beaches. Good food at the Wheatsheaf, but our favourite was the Cross at Paxton (dog friendly).

Partington party, Cleveland 20/06/2009

A very pleasant stay. The cottage was comfortable - cool in hot weather but easy to warm if it became cold. The log fire was greatly appreciated. Thank you for lending us such a cosy, comfortable and CLEAN cottage!

Caveen party, West Yorkshire 02/04/2011

The cottage was so clean and welcoming when we arrived. Our dog loved the place just as much as we did.The garden was lovely with all the spring flowers, and as the sun shone most of the week we were able to spend lots of time outdoors. The walking was great and there are so many pretty towns to see. We particularly enjoyed Melrose and the walks around Coldstream and the Hirsel Estate. Lovely tea rooms everywhere! A great place to visit.

McRae party, North Humberside 14/05/2011

Well equipped comfortable cottage. Garden a real bonus especially for our dog. Ideal location for exploring the Borders. We visited and enjoyed Hirsel Estate, Coldstream, Chain Bridge & Honey Farm, St.Abbs (lovely tea room), Eyemouth museum, Abbotsford (Sir Walter Scott's former home), Etal and Ford, Paxton House, Jedburgh and Kelso worth a walk round. Berwick good for a breezy sea walk. A great week - home tomorrow for a rest!

Johnston party, France 30/07/2011

Mixture of weather. Outings to St.Abbs Head, Coldingham Beach, Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Beach and Coldstream. Sweet cottage. Everything available to ensure a comfortable stay. Thank you for supersoft towels.

What a fantastic place! Thank you for such a lovely comfortable stay! It's like a tardis, but in tartan. Really enjoyed the gorgeous atmosphere - must get my parents up here soon, they would love it.
