Eagles Nest is a traditional 19th century stone cottage, attractively decorated and furnished, which offers a high degree of comfort and some of the most stunning views in the Scottish Borders.

South-facing and set in its own half-acre garden (with furniture and BBQ), it stands at the end of a track (easily negotiated with care except in extreme wintry weather conditions, when a 4 x 4 is advisable) half a mile from the B709 which links Innerleithen (7 miles) to St Mary's Loch (5 miles).
Arriving at the cottage is a memorable experience with the wonderful Border countryside spread out below it. Guests will no doubt take every opportunity to sit out on the terrace or in the peaceful garden just drinking in the view. The interior too offers every comfort and will be a welcome retreat in less clement weather or when darkness falls.
The sitting room, with its warm colours, comfortable furnishings and a splendid wood-burning stove, all of which combine to give it a wonderfully snug ambience. The dining kitchen is equally attractive, with a modern, well-equipped kitchen area and a separate dining area. This area is very spacious and guests will be happy to remain here at the end of their meal putting the world to rights over a glass or two.
The family bathroom has an attractive roll top bath, as well as a separate shower and there is a further temptation in the form of the games room, with its dart board and small pool table. This will appeal to adults and children alike and provide a great place to relax on a rainy day.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, that are both attractively furnished and decorated. There are slightly coombed ceilings and dormer windows which again give an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful views.
This is a largely undiscovered area - perfect for walking, biking, angling, sailing, anyone wanting to get away from it all.
It is also ideal for exploring by car since quiet roads take you easily through this spectacular hill country to all the small Border towns and many places of interest.
You are only 14 miles from the flourishing small town of Peebles (Hydro, shops, restaurants, stately homes, etc). Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland, cashmere and woollen mills, the Border Abbeys and Sir Walter Scott's 'Abbotsford' are all within easy visiting distance.
Sir Walter himself was almost 'a regular' at the Gordon Arms Hotel/pub that is about a mile from the cottage door. The hotel hosts regular music sessions and having it within walking distance means that you can enjoy a convivial evening and stroll home without worrying about breathalysers! Edinburgh is reachable in just an hour's drive, or 50 minutes by train from Galashiels (19 miles), and Glasgow is an hour and a half's drive away.
For cycling enthusiasts, another attractive feature of Eagles Nest will be its proximity to the superb mountain biking trails at Innerleithen and Glentress (13 miles), where there is also a Go Ape course for the more fearless of the group. There is a golf course at Cardrona (11 miles) and riding at the Peebles Hydro Hotel.
Another lovely drive is via St Mary’s Loch, turning off at Cappercleuch and heading over the hill via Megget to the Tala Reservoir, where the views from the top are quite superb.

Heating is by oil central heating (5 hours a day of background heating INCLUDED with additional useage charged at £1 per hour payble at the end of your stay) and wood-burning stove (1 basket of logs INCLUDED). WiFi is INCLUDED (subject to a fair usage policy). A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at an additional charge (2 large, 2 medium or 2 small).
