The pretty market town of Newton Stewart is just 25 miles from Stranraer in 'Bonnie Galloway' in the south-west corner or Scotland. In an oasis of calm and seclusion, yet just yards from the town centre, Appletree Cottage is a wonderful discovery. The owners have made a magnificent conversion of an old steading with a view to living there themselves in the future; in the meantime, however, privileged holiday makers are also being given the chance to share in its delights.
The house is beautifully appointed and full of character, with an open plan living area with patio doors to the garden, a downstairs bed room and en suite shower room (all very suitable for those of limited mobility). A spiral staircase leads up from the living area to a very large bedroom with super king-size bed, en suite bathroom and a Juliet balcony overlooking the garden.
......Which is another particular attraction, walled, unoverlooked, totally secluded, with space for parking two or more cars, two patio areas (furniture, barbecue) and a newly planted apple orchard. (Help yourself to fruit in season!)
Newton Stewart has all facilities, and is also the 'gateway' to the hills and forests of the Galloway Forest Park, which nowadays are particularly known for their superb mountain biking trails. They are equally suitable for excellent walking, while golf, fishing, riding and water sports are also readily available. Near Newton Stewart is the RSPB Bird Reserve at the Wood of Cree, while garden enthusiasts will find plenty to interest them at Threave and Port Logan, and the beaches round Luce Bay will delight the younger members of the party.
And for a spot of foreign travel, look no further! Ferries to Ireland leave from Stranraer and Cairnryan and are ideal for a day trip over the water. There are some very special shopper's deals to be had on fares at various times of the year.
Heating is by gas CH and electric stove (INCLUDED). Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Sorry, no pets or smoking within the property.
