There is something for everyone at Shore Cabin.  Roll out of bed on one side and you're on the golf course.  Roll out on the other and you're on the beach.  Catch the train from Dunbar (1m) or the bus from the end of the road and you're in shopping and sightseeing heaven in Edinburgh.   What more could one ask?

The cabin itself is a delightful little chalet, situated right on the Firth of Forth at Belhaven Bay, 30 miles east of Edinburgh, which stands in its own enclosed garden.  There are glorious, uninterrupted views out over the sea and the Bass Rock and beach both from there and from the windows.

Inside, it is as modern and comfortable as can be with a well fitted kitchen, cosy living area and two bedrooms.  Everything is to hand, so you can have a holiday of maximum relaxation and minimum effort.

In the unlikely event that you should tire of the view, you can walk round the coastal path to nearby Dunbar (all facilities) or, for something more strenuous, strike out along the Southern Upland Way, which ends at Cockburnspath, 8 miles down the road.  On the way, you can visit Tantallon Castle, or heading in the other direction, Dirleton Castle with its beautiful gardens.

North Berwick (13m) is a delightful holiday town, dominated by the volcanic plug of Berwick Law and its twin, the Bass Rock, one of the principal bird sanctuaries in Britain and home to many thousands of seabirds.  You can take boat trips out to view them, or do so from the warmth and comfort of the Scottish Seabird Centre, where there is plenty to keep both adults and children amused on a rainy day.  The Museum of Flight at nearby East Fortune is another family attraction.

Then, of course, this area is golf heaven, with Muirfield, Luffness, Archerfield and more courses than you can shake a stick at within a few miles radius.

No visit would be complete without a day in Edinburgh, so easily accessible in the train from Dunbar.  You can do all the sights and some shopping as well and be home in time for a relaxing drink on the terrace, to the sound of the waves on the shore and watching a splendid sunset.

Heating is by electricity (£10 INCLUDED). Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.    There is secure storage for cycles etc.  Sorry, no pets and no smoking within the property.

In spite of wind and rain, we were warm and comfortable and the scenery was quite outstanding.
