If you are thinking of coming to Edinburgh for a holiday or short break, and like the idea of comfortable and convenient accommodation which is just that little bit different, then Colville Cottage could be just what you are looking for.

Centrally placed, and within a 15 minute walk of the city centre and Princes Street, it is nevertheless quiet and secluded, standing in a peaceful, cobbled cul de sac in the historic 'colonies' in the elegant Stockbridge area of the city.  (Stockbridge was one of the little villages which became subsumed into the capital, but which retains its quaint, villagy atmosphere to this day.)  The picturesque Water of Leith, with its leafy walkways, runs past the end of the cul de sac, while Edinburgh's beautiful and world famous Botanic Gardens are just a few minutes' walk up the hill.

While technically it is a ground floor apartment, to all intents and purposes this is a pretty, traditional terraced cottage with its own little front garden and front door.  Inside, it has been completely renovated to provide a comfortable and cosy pied à terre for a romantic break in this most romantic of cities.  There is a bright living room with open fire, a very well equipped galley kitchen, an attractive bedroom with an ornate giltwood antique bed (modern mattress, though!) and a luxurious shower room.

Stockbridge is well served with boutiques, delicatessens and restaurants, not to mention the Victorian Baths/Pools and Health Centre at the end of the road, and buses run regularly up and down to Princes Street if you can't face the walk home after a heavy day's sight-seeing.  There is meter parking close by which is free 1730-0830 and at weekends.  (The whole of Edinburgh is now permit and meter parking only.)

The cottage is handy for visiting the Museum of Modern Art and is conveniently placed for the western approaches to the city, with easy access to the Queensferry Road, which will take you to the Forth Bridge or airport, and on from there to Glasgow, Fife, or the Highlands.  You can therefore, if you wish, combine a city break with the chance to explore a whole swathe of Scotland's many attractions.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and the first £10 of gas central heating are INCLUDED.  Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the cottage.

Special rates will apply for the Edinburgh Festival period and Hogmanay.  Please enquire about these and about rates for three and four night breaks.  A refundable householder's deposit will be required.
