Edinburgh's port of Leith has certainly come up in the world in recent years and is now one of the most sought after areas of the city, with a specially vibrant harbour front with excellent restaurants, not to mention the former Royal Yacht Britannia as its own leading tourist attraction.

Overlooking the old working harbour just a few yards further along is a smart development of new apartments, and one of these is the Trade Winds Apartment, a chic, second floor pied a terre, which provides an ideal base for a memorable visit to Edinburgh.

There is unlimited free parking at the main door (a great boon in non-car-friendly Edinburgh) and a lift to whisk you upstairs.  One of the two bedrooms has an ensuite shower and there is a further bathroom.  The kitchen is very well-appointed, the living room is bright and comfortable, and overlooks the harbour,  which can also be enjoyed from the spacious balcony (furniture).   And if you find you have over indulged in the many superb eating places in the Leith area, there is an on-site gym to which guests have access and which will help you shed the extra pounds.

The No 22 bus leaves from the wharf and will take you up to Princes Street in just a few minutes; it's also perfectly feasible to walk it, if you feel like some exercise.  Within walking distance, too, are a swimming pool, all these lovely restaurants, a good small shop, and the Ocean Terminal shopping complex with an outsize supermarket just beyond it.  And if you feel like a more tranquil and scenic stroll, there are lovely walks along the Canal and the Water of Leith.

Edinburgh, with its Castle, Royal Mile, Palace of Holyrood, museums, art galleries, theatres and great shopping surely needs no introduction as a place to visit.  At the Trade Winds Apartment you are within easy reach of all its attractions, and have a peaceful and beautifully presented 'home from home' to which to return at the end of the day.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and the first £15 of gas CH are INCLUDED.  Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is no permitted in the apartment.

Special rates will apply for the period of the Edinburgh Festival and for New Year.

Our stay was wonderful. I had stayed in a cottage in Ireland and already knew what to expect. This was my husbands first time and he was very impressed. The appt was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. The apts. location to the sites was ideal for touring Scotland. Parking was wonderful and city transportation was very convenient. And we loved the village Tattoo we attended within walking distance from the apt. We make accomodations and everything went well. My parents will be planning a stay there next year when they visit Scotland.
