The apartment is on the top (4th) floor of a restored 18th century building and is accessed by a unique 'turnpike' spiral stone staircase.  Needless to say, from the windows you have a bird's eye view over the roofs of the city and, immediately below, there are trees and a pretty back wynd (where you can quite often find parking.)  Inside, the apartment is very peaceful with no noise from the Royal Mile.

Once through the door the apartment proves to be surprisingly spacious.  There is a delightful hall/dining room, a comfortable sitting room with a vaulted ceiling, Adam cornices, rose and fireplace and a gas-fired stove for cosy evenings in.  The kitchen is well fitted, and a large double bedroom and compact bathroom complete the accommodation.  The owner has provided a wireless Broadband connection if you feel you just can't leave everyday contacts behind.

Back down on the street, you are within a five minute walk of Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth and the hill known as Arthur's Seat, which rises above the city and provides scope for lovely walks.  In the other direction, 10 minutes  on foot will bring you to St Giles Cathedral, the Castle,  and the Camera Obscura.  Or take a right in the meantime and head across the Bridges or down the Mound to Princes Street, the National Gallery, the Scott Monument and the beautiful Georgian New Town.  Perhaps you are beginning to get the picture of how very convenient the apartment is!
