Tucked among the Border hills, on the banks of the river Tweed, is the charming and picturesque little town of Peebles.  Despite being only 30 miles from Edinburgh, it is surrounded by some of the most peaceful and beautiful countryside that Scotland has to offer and it has long been a favourite holiday destination.

In a quiet lane just a few hundred yards from the High Street, Biggiesknowe Cottage is a quaint, distinctive and delightful holiday home, in which character and comfort are happily combined.   Built on the 'upside-down principle', with living accommodation upstairs and bedrooms down, (a split level bedroom and bathroom add to the interest) it will keep you fit as well as comfortable!

Outside, a path runs down the side of the house to an open grass area on the banks of the river, where tenants are welcome to take seats out and sit of an evening watching the ducks.

The area has long been a mecca for fishermen, walkers and golfers.  (You can walk out into the surrounding hills straight from the door.)  Lately it has also become a prime centre for mountain bikers, who come to enjoy the dedicated trails in the nearby Glentress Forest.  (Whilst there, wildlife enthusiasts can watch the ospreys who nest in the nearby woods.)

Peebles has a leisure centre, tennis courts, riding stables at the Hydro, and a lively Arts Centre, as well as many interesting shops and excellent places to eat.   Garden lovers will find their passion catered for  at the Kailzie and Dawyck Botanic Gardens, both just a few miles away.  Those interested in history can visit Neidpath Castle on the outskirts of the town, or Traquair, the oldest continuously inhabited house in Scotland, where the Bear gates will remain closed until a Stuart once more ascends the British throne.    The Southern Upland Way also passes through Traquair, so you can join it there and head off either east or west.

Buses run regularly from the town to both Edinburgh and Glasgow and the cottage is one of the few that is easily accessible by public transport.    One thing is sure, at Biggiesknowe Cottage you should never be bored!

Bed linen, towels, gas central heating and electricity are all INCLUDED.  Sorry, no smoking or pets in the cottage.
