Tweedmount is part of a substantial and elegant Victorian villa situated in a quiet cul de sac in the picturesque Border town of Melrose, just thirty miles from the English border and scarcely more from Edinburgh.

It is a most spacious and comfortable house, with a huge, sunny sitting room, another snug or television room, large kitchen-diner and assorted bedrooms and bathrooms.  Outside it has a fully enclosed and very secluded walled garden and off road parking.  It stands next door to Tweedknowe, and the two, hired together, provide accommodation for  20 people.  Ideal, therefore, for family reunions and celebrations.

Melrose is a delightful little town, with excellent restaurants, pubs and interesting shops all within five minutes walk of the house.  There are good walks straight from the house, too - up the Eildon Hills,  along the famous River Tweed which flanks the town (fishermen take note!)  or on the Southern Upland Way which also passes close by.  Melrose has an attractive nine-hole golf course and there are many other excellent courses in the area.  There are tennis courts in the nearby Gibson Park,  and riding at Cowdenknowes (4m).  Melrose is also the home of the Rugby Sevens game; the 'Melrose Sevens' take place in mid April and attract teams from all over the world.  The historic ruin of Melrose Abbey is in the town itself, Sir Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford is 3 miles away, and there are more stately homes, castles, (ruined or otherwise) and historic buildings in the area than can possibly be visited in a week's stay.  In just over an hour you can be at the coast, enjoying the sandy beaches at Coldingham or visiting the dramatic cliffs with their seabird colonies at St Abbs.

Heating is by gas fired central heating (INCLUDED) and open fire.  Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.
