Drumlamford is a large private country estate of some 1500 acres and a loch (pike fishing) lying 12 miles north of the small market town of Newton Stewart on the River Cree (shops, hotels, good fishing) and 5 miles south of Barrhill (shop, pub and small railway station) beside the wooded uplands of The Galloway Forest Park.
This area' is celebrated the world over for its serene and gracious countryside which rises from the sandy coves and mudflat estuaries (marvellous for bird-watching and sailing) of the Solway Firth to the rolling farmlands, high green hills and hidden lochs of the hinterland.
Golfers can play many small country courses, with famous Turnberry some 20 miles up the coast. Artists will want to paint, visit Kirkcudbright and admire the lovely gardens and mansions. History buffs will be hard put to visit all the castles and sites (including the reputed cave of Robert The Bruce's famous spider) that remind us of this area's very bloody history. Motor-racing fans may want to visit David Coulthard's village of Tywnholm - and some may fancy a day-trip to Ireland on the Jetliner from Cairnryan.
Maberry Cottage - is a lovely detached Victorian cottage - very comfortably furnished, well equipped and with central-heating - with its own grass garden to the rear (furniture) and backed by trees, overlooking Loch Maberry where trout-fishing is available.
Heating by wood-burning stove, oil-CH, electricity, bed-linen and towels are All INCLUDED. Pets are welcome. Private water supply. Sorry, no smoking.
