In a lovely peaceful setting on the Gruinard Estate near Laide (5 miles, with shop/PO) and Gairloch (24 miles) on Scotland's spectacular north west coast, Bridge Cottage provides excellent self-catering accommodation in superb surroundings.

This detached cottage has the most scenic and peaceful of situations, amid trees, with the craggy hill behind and the river Gruinard to the front.
Inside, the simply presented accommodation is versatile and comfortable and ideal for larger parties who enjoy the great outdoors and prize a superb situation above the last word in luxury. The cottage has a charming, traditional ambience. The sitting room is warm and inviting, with its capacious sofas and cosy open fire that is perfect for relaxing by after a day in the hills or on the beach.
The dining kitchen is very spacious indeed with the dining table seating eight in comfort. With the Rayburn at one end, it is bound to be the cosiest place in the house and there is a delightful window seat from which to admire the view.
Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms, a double with en-suite bathroom and two twins, that are simply furnished in a traditional style. The two twin rooms are particularly spacious. A family bathroom completes the accommodation.
Outside there is a enclosed rough garden. The cottage is accessed by a rustic path which makes it unsuitable for those of limited mobility.
Hill lochs are within a 30 minute walk where you can fly fish for brown trout. Alternatively you can walk in the surrounding hills, or enjoy lazy days on the beautiful sandy beaches.
Here the beaches are really spectacular, characterised by rocky coves and sands which, derived from the ancient Torridon rocks, are pink in colour. The most famous of these beaches, at Gruinard Bay, has wonderful views across myriad little islands to the Coigach Mountains and An Teallach.
From the beach, a delightful walk leads up to a view point for the waterfall of Eas Dubh a Ghlinne Ghaibh, just one of many such walks in this area. There are plenty of opportunities for cycling too, especially along the flatter coastal roads. A particularly rewarding ride is the one from Gairloch to the lighthouse of Rua Reidh. The scenery along the clifftops is amazing indeed. Gairloch has a pony trekking centre, a golf course and a leisure centre, where climbers can hone their skills on the climbing wall.
The famous sub-tropical gardens at Poolewe (12 miles) should not be missed and Gairloch offers a golf course, a selection of hotels and shops and opportunities for boat trips to view the teeming wildlife in the surrounding waters. This beautiful coastline is full of delights and amply repays exploration.

Bed linen INCLUDED and towels are available to hire. Electricity is INCLUDED. Heating is by oil central heating (INCLUDED) and open fire (Logs INCLUDED). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 1 dog is welcome at an additional charge (1 large, 1 medium or 1 small).
