It is situated 5 miles from the village of Dornie (with shop and hotel) near Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge and stands above Loch Long, with lovely views of the water and the hills from its fenced grass garden.
Right off the beaten track, this cottage is one of the scattered dwellings in the tiny hamlet of Sallachy, which nestles between the loch and the magnificent mountains behind.
The interior is spacious and light with large, double glazed windows in all rooms. The main living area is open plan with hardwood floors and elegant furnishings throughout, not to mention the stunning loch views. There is also a wide screen television for entertainment when the curtain of darkness finally descends on the show outside! The wonderful views can best be enjoyed, whatever the weather, from the delightful pine-lined sunroom at the front of the house.
The kitchen is large and very stylishly fitted and with the dining area just beyond it, separated by a bank of units, there will be no problem getting the food to the table in very short order! There is also a handy utility room.
All on one level there are three spacious, well-furnished and very comfortable bedrooms, two doubles (one with king size bed) and one twin room. Both of the double rooms have a magnificent view of the loch - what a vista to wake up to! The very spacious shower room has a large walk-in shower and there is also an additional WC to supplement it.
Taigh an Fasgaidh is a wonderful Highland retreat, where you may spot an amazing array of wildlife. Yet it is also within reach of lots of Scotland's 'must-see' attractions.
The famous Eilean Donan Castle, familiar from countless souvenir calendars, is just down the main road near Dornie, while climbers and walkers will find the 'Five Sisters of Kintail' within a short drive.
No visit here would be complete without at least one day spent exploring the beautiful Isle of Skye, so easily reached now across the bridge. While on the mainland a short drive to the north west is the picturesque village and yachting haven of Plockton (14 miles, with shops and excellent eating places).
Further afield, you could take the white-knuckle ride over the breath-taking 'Pass of the Cattle' to Applecross (40 miles), with its white beaches and wonderful Hebridean views, as well as a choice of two great places for lunch. You can head over Mam Ratagan to Glenelg from where, in summer, a little turntable ferry plies back and forward to Skye. Come back by the bridge and you have the makings of a great day trip.
