The cottage has an elevated position which offers amazing views out across the bay to the Stevenson lighthouse at Isle Ornsay, with the Sound of Sleat and Kinloch Hourn beyond.

The spacious accommodation is accessed via a useful entrance hall with cloakroom. The sitting room is warm and welcoming with a cosy wood-burning stove and a large picture window to take in the wonderful surrounding views. The dining room also looks out to sea. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a separate utility room offering washing and drying facilities and access to the garden.

Upstairs is a master bedroom with 6 foot bed and en suite bathroom, a double bedroom and a further twin bedroom which share a spacious family bathroom complete with twin basins (one of which, very cutely, is at child height). A travel cot is also included for younger guests. Outside, the mature garden has trees and a pond (care with young children) and is frequented by many birds.

Map & Local

This is an ideal location from which to explore both the island and nearby areas on the west coast mainland, being only 16 miles by a fast road from the Skye Bridge. Alternatively, it is also well placed for the car ferry from Mallaig, which docks 6 miles to the south of the cottage at Armadale.

The town of Broadford (8 miles) offers all of the usual facilities including hotels, a supermarket, shops and petrol station. The island's 'capital' Portree (with all facilities) is about an hour's drive away.

The immediate area offers a sandy bay (when the tide is out) on which to enjoy beachcombing or you can sit on the shore by the lighthouse and enjoy a picnic whilst watching the sea birds duck and dive. Well known as a sheltered anchorage, Isle Ornsay attracts many boats and yachts in the summer months, creating a hive of activity which makes for interesting viewing.

Climbers looking for a more challenging activity will delight in the spectacular Cuillin Mountains, the Old Man of Storr or Quiraing. Seafari trips are offered from Ardvasar where you can also visit the Clan Donald Centre and Armadale Castle gardens. The north of the island offers many popular destinations including Portree, Dunvegan with its castle and the nearby Coral Beaches at Claigan, as well as the popular Glendale Toy Museum.

The famous Eilean Iarmain Hotel is just down the road and offers fine dining and lively nights in the bar, while a few miles up the road towards Broadford is Lady Claire Macdonald's famous Kinloch House Hotel and gourmet shop.

Please note: while we make every effort to be as accurate as possible, the actual position of the cottage indicated on the map above and the proximity of the amenities in the Local Info section cannot be guaranteed to be precise and should be used as a guide only.
