Take either the 'High Road' via Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps and down Loch Fyne, or the 'Low Road' via the Gourock-Dunoon/Hunter's Quay ferry (no booking necessary) and then round the head of Loch Striven to the Kyles of Bute, and you will come to the village of Colintraive (pronounced Colin-tryve). The wee road then winds round Strone Point to end on the shores of Loch Striven.
Just beyond the village, in a superb, elevated position above the water is Bonahaven, a substantial and impressive detached house in its own extensive garden with magnificent views across the water. Inside it is a comfortable, centrally heated, family home, ideal for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The sitting room has a multi-fuel stove for additional cosiness and a picture window to take full advantage of the view, and there is a further conservatory/ dining room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one of them with en suite shower room, and a further bathroom.
The village has a hotel with bar and restaurant and shop/PO, both just over half a mile from the house, so within easy walking distance. For serious shopping Dunoon is only 20 miles away and offers supermarkets, leisure centre etc.
From Colintraive, too, the ferry plies back and forth every half hour or so to the Isle of Bute, where you can visit the popular holiday resort of Rothesay, and imposing Mount Stuart and Rothesay Castle. The village is a well-known destination for yachtsmen - there is a slipway in the village so you can bring your own boat by arrangement.
The surrounding area offers excellent walking, golf, etc. and Inveraray, the Mull of Kintyre and the many scenic lochs and inlets of this lovely area of Scotland, all await exploration.
Bed linen, towels, electricity and the first £20 of oil-CH are INCLUDED in the rental. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the cottage
