The village of Minard runs along the shore of Loch Fyne, between Inveraray and Lochgilphead in Argyll. If you turn of the main road and drive up the hill, you will find that the road ends at Achagoil House, a traditional whitewashed farmhouse, now divided into two excellent and completely self-contained apartments, each with its own entrance and parking space. At present only the lower of these, Loch Fyne Apartment, is offered for holiday letting.
The house stands in its own attractive gardens (furniture) which back straight on to the hillside behind, and from where there are lovely views across the loch at the foot of the hill.
Inside, the apartment has been comfortably and charmingly furnished to create the cosiest of holiday homes. In the U-shaped open plan living room, the sitting area has an exposed stone wall round the open fire and the dining area leads round to a spacious and well-appointed kitchen. There are, in addition, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Minard has a general store and Furnace (3.5m) has a pub serving excellent meals. The picturesque village of Inveraray (all facilities, golf course) is 10 miles to the north and a visit to its castle and jail should not be missed. To the south is Lochgilphead (13m) with supermarket and leisure centre. From there, you can continue down the Mull of Kintyre or head up towards Oban through historic Kilmartin Glen with its neolithic monuments.
Pony trekking, sailing, walking and cycling are other popular activities in this beautiful area.
Heating is by electricity (first £15 INCLUDED). Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted within the cottage.
