Is the sweetest little whitewashed cottage imaginable, which, what's more, has a glorious situation on the quiet western side of the Knapdale peninsula near Tarbert in Argyll.  From this coast there are truly breathtaking views across the Sound of Jura to the island of Jura itself and to Islay beyond.

Inside the cottage has been completely renovated to a high standard and makes a lovely hideaway for two people with underfloor heating, a woodburner in the cosy sitting room and a double bedroom.  Solar panels for the hot water make it eco-friendly too.   Sheep graze quietly over the dry stane dyke to the front and there is ample parking right at the door.

It also makes a perfect base for those wishing to attend local weddings - the wedding venue at Crear is just close by and in winter the cottage lets from Friday to Friday to accommodate guests attending these.

But there is something for everyone in this beautiful part of the world, splendid walking, riding, sailing, cycling - the list goes on.  You can also indulge in a spot of island hopping.  From Claonaig in summer you can take the ferry across to Lochranza on Arran, from Kennacraig to Islay or from Tayinloan to Gigha.

Tarbert is well known for its fish and seafood, and has a number of restaurants and shops.  Heading south, you can go right down the Mull of Kintyre peninsula, where there is a superb beach (beloved of canoeists, surfers and kite-surfers) and a golf course at Machrihanish, while Campbeltown, 'the furthest town from anywhere' still has its own distillery.  Going one way at least by the lesser known east coast single track road will afford you amazing views of Arran and take you past the pretty village of Carradale.

To the north, you have a choice of routes from Lochgilphead to explore - either up Loch Fyne side to the Crarae gardens and Inveraray or through historic Kilmartin Glen with its 5,000 year old remains, and up to Loch Awe and Oban.

However, it may well be that you will be content to snuggle up in Tigh Ban and enjoys its comfort and the charms of the immediate surroundings.

£10 of electricity, bed linen are INCLUDED  and towels may be hired.  Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted in the cottage.  Broadband is available (£15 charge) at the cottage, subject to provider.

Excellent accommodation and a great week despite awful weather, including a spectacular gale. Kilberry Inn very welcoming, Tarbert useful for everything and everyone very helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our week in this lovely cottage - and had a great run of luck with the weather! We enjoyed: Kilmartin Glen and Museum, visit to the Scottish Beaver Trail (guided tour on Tuesdays), picnics at Millers Bay and Traigh Bhan, cycling on Gigha (sea Kayak hire also an option), boat trip to Corryvreckan Whirlpool from Crinan and of course a meal at Kilberry Inn - a real holiday treat!

Stunning coastline, enjoyable boat trip to Islay, fascinating museum at Kilmartin. Thrilled to see several birds of prey - look out for Peregrin Falcon on the byre, left hand side, between here and Lochgilphead. Fabulous meal at Kilberry Inn to finish our week.
