Dunmore Cottage is a bright, sunny and beautifully appointed cottage near the little village of Bunessan on the Ross (the southwest corner) of Mull, perfectly placed for visiting Iona and the other islands round about.
It stands in its own small garden, next door to the owner's house, with lovely views across the inlet in front of it. Inside, it is snug and trim, with a most comfortable sitting room, a well fitted dining kitchen, a double bedroom and a further bedroom with double and single bunks. Given where it is and what it is, it is sure to be a winner with the many holiday makers who come each year to visit this enchanting and accessible island.
Bunessan has a shop and a hotel. Nearby Fionnphort is where you can take the little foot ferry across to the sacred isle of Iona. It is also the starting point for boat trips to Staffa to see the legendary Fingal's Cave, and the Treshnish isles. If you are lucky, you may spot dolphins, basking sharks and even whale in the surrounding waters.
Walkers will enjoy forays into the surrounding hills; there are lots of quiet coves along this coast for leisurely picnics; Duart and Torosay Castles are well worth a visit, and children and adults alike will enjoy a trip on the miniature railway there.
While most of the roads on Mull tend to be single track, it is still possible to get round much of the island in a day. A visit to the picturesque 'capital' Tobermory is a must. If you go 'the pretty way' up the west coast, you will come to Ulva of Lord Ullin's Daughter fame, the fabulous beach at Calgary, and heading inland, the Mull Little Theatre at Dervaig. You can certainly relax, but should never be bored on Mull!
Heating by oil fired central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all INCLUDED in the rental. Up to two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted in the house.
