Mull is sometimes known as the enchanted isle. The combination of spectacular scenery, the captivating light on the land, and the feeling of space and tranquillity, creates an unforgettable experience. There are over 300 miles of coastline to explore with fabulous sandy beaches to be found, secluded coves and inlets where you may be quite alone.
Mull is an accessible island, with regular ferries from the mainland at Oban, Lochaline and Morven. Although one of Scotland's most famous and favourite islands, once you leave the ferry at Craignure you will feel you have entered a different world. Heading South to Bunessan you will travel for almost thirty miles along a single track road which will take you through some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenery imaginable.
Near, but detached from the Eorabus Croft houses, (the whole being set in three acres), The Hide is a wonderful log cabin in an idyllic location, with glorious mountain views across Ben More and the Berg, while on the other side there is a sea view that can be seen without leaving your bed.
Like the Crofts, the Hide is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and has been carefully designed to maximize the available space. The designer mini-kitchen is particularly intriguing in that it provides all necessary equipment (electric hob, fridge, sink etc) but can then be transformed into a stylish piece of furniture. The sitting area has large leather sofas, perfect for relaxing after a day on the beach or hills, or you can enjoy the wonderful views at even closer quarters from the large outside decking area.
A ten minute drive from The Hide will take you to the little known, quiet and beautiful coves of Assapol beach. Drive a little further to Fionnphort, and you will come to the foot ferry to Iona, a tiny gem of an island with its unique atmosphere, famous Abbey, and silver white sands. From Fionnphort too you can take boat trips - perhaps to Staffa to see the spectacular Fingal's Cave or to the Treshnish isles to visit the puffin colonies. Elsewhere on Mull, Duart and Torosay Castles should not be missed, and children will love to visit the site of Balamory (Tobermory to the rest of us). In addition to the whales and dolphins in the surrounding waters, look out too for buzzards and eagles in the skies above.
Heating is by gas-fired stove and electric heating (first £10 of electricity included). Bed linen and towels are included. Sorry, no pets or smoking within the cottage.
