Clachan Cottage is a typical, simple and traditional Highland home which has a fantastic situation on the shores of Loch Carron,  about 60 miles from Inverness in one of the loveliest parts of north west Scotland.

In a tiny hamlet of houses, it has the shore right at the end of its large grass garden (furniture) and wonderful views across the water to the hills on the other side.  With no passing traffic it really is a place to chill in glorious surroundings.

Once a real old but'n'ben, of traditional stone and with the characteristic corrugated roof, the cottage has now been extended to give extra space and has two bedrooms, a double and a single, a cosy sitting room with electric stove, a neat galley kitchen and bathroom.  It is ideal for a couple but can accommodate an extra person if necessary.

Comfortable but unpretentious, Clachan will appeal to all those who come to this part of the world to enjoy hill-walking, climbing, wildlife-watching, fishing or sailing or are simply looking for rest and relaxation.

It makes a good base, too for exploring the many delights of this part of the world.  The village of Lochcarron, about 7 miles up the road, has shops, hotels and even a golf course.    From the station at Strathcarron you can experience what has been described as the world's third most beautiful train journey to Inverness.

From Strathcarron, too, it is an easy drive down to picturesque Plockton and on to Kyle and the bridge to Skye, which is well within reach for a day trip.    In the other direction, there is the amazing Applecross peninsula, which can be accessed over the equally amazing Pass of the Cattle, a driving experience second to none.  Applecross is a lovely wee village, with two superb eating places, lovely beaches and even its own microclimate!

Bypassing the peninsula, however, and heading north past Shieldaig (where you can take boat trips to Rona and to view the birdlife on the Shant Islands) you can visit Gairloch and continue on to the famous gardens at Poolewe.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Heating is by electric stove and heaters and electricity is paid for by coin meter (first £10 INCLUDED.)  One well-behaved dog is welcome by arrangement.
