'Sealladh Na Mara' at Lechnasaide in Wester Ross is an excellent cedar-wood cottage one mile from the village of Badachro - which is on the southern shore of Loch Gairloch on the mainland opposite the northern tip of Skye. It stands privately in its own 2.5 acres of grassy oakwood which stretch right down to the shingle shore and enjoys magnificent views right across the bay, a sheltered yachting haven, to the hills above Loch Ewe.
A fully-fitted modern kitchen and large floor-to-ceiling windows have been added and being all on one level, with a second (external) WC and basin, it makes a very desirable holiday home for one or two families. However there is a small pond in the grounds which could be a hazard for very young children.
Nowhere is the scenery of Scotland's famed north-west coast more superb than around here - offering limitless opportunities for walks, picnics and car excursions into spectacular mountain scenery; while Gairloch with all its amenities (shops, pubs, golden sands, golf, fishing trips) is only 6 easy miles away. The famous National Trust Gardens at Inverewe are about 12 miles. Badachro itself has an excellent pub/restaurant with a picturesque setting on the shore while Shieldaig Lodge nearby is for more formal dining.
Heating is by open-fire (some coal INCLUDED) and electricity (INCLUDED). Bed-linen and towels are available for hire, and all the beds have electric-blankets. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead within the grounds.
