Bracken House is situated in the scattered little hamlet of Diabaig on the shores of the loch of the same name on Scotland's glorious north west coast, 115 miles north of Fort William and 70 west of Inverness.  It is just 9 miles from the village of Torridon, which name will bring a light to the eye of any climber and hillwalker - the mountains behind the village boast no less than 7 Munros!

At the end of the little single track road, there is no passing traffic, and here you will find perfect peace and tranquility.  The house itself, in its enclosed grass garden, is modern and most beautifully furnished and appointed.  There are wonderful  views across the loch from the picture windows to the front, and the constantly changing sky and seascape will keep you enchanted for hours.  The sun room to the front has been built with just this in mind, the very place to sip a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.  In addition, there is a large lounge with dining area which has a woodburning stove, and a further sitting or TV room.  Larger parties will find plenty of room to spread themselves!

The two king size double bedrooms (one en suite) and the bunk bedroom all face the bay as well.  There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor and two further bathrooms.

The walking, straight from the door, is quite magnificent.  If you don't fancy a Munro, the seven mile hike along the coast from Diabaig to Redpoint is very rewarding, with fabulous views across to Raasay, to the Cuillin mountains and the Applecross peninsula on a clear day.    Those with an interest in wildlife may spot eagles and buzzards and even elusive pine martens.

Further afield you can explore the pretty village of Shieldaig and take the road round the coast of the Applecross peninsula.  To the northwest, drive up the shore of Loch Maree to the sub-tropical gardens at Poolewe.  The nearest golf course is at Gairloch (37m)

The nearest hotel and shop are at Torridon.  Heating is by electricity and wood burning stove.  Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED.  Up to two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.  Sorry, no smoking in the house.

Beautiful house with stunning views. We have all learned to fish from the pier but no catch of the day. We will have to come back.

The house is as beautiful as the location. We have all had a fantastic time. We spent most of our time walking and beachcombing. We fished each morning from the pier. Everything has been absolutely spot on!

Splendidly impressive surroundings have made up a delightful holiday in this quiet and beautiful spot. Do try Kishorn Seafood Bar.

Beautiful setting. Weather has been kind with great walks. Children braved the water for swimming. Best located sofa in Scotland! Reluctant to move on.

A truly unique location, memories of which will stay with us for many years. Very appreciative of nightly entertainment from local resident wildlife!! Glad we bought extra jam. Molly enjoyed her first visit to Scotland. Have never seen her so tired from walking. Thank you. We look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful spot for our mini-honeymoon. We've seen all the wildlife including otters and pine marten. The weather certainly hasn't stopped us enjoying the walks and the walks in Surrey will look very tame now. Thanks for letting the house in such an idyllic spot!
