Yew Tree Cottage must surely conform to the archetypical idea of a traditional Highland cottage, a whitewashed, solid, stone-built dwelling, with attractive dormer windows, set in a lovely situation at Little Courthill at Kishorn near Lochcarron in one of the most scenic parts of the west coast.  It has its own grassed front garden, just right for sitting in the sun and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

You'd expect such a house to have plenty of character, and Yew Tree Cottage does not disappoint.  Traditional features such as wood panelled ceilings and walls have been retained and incorporated into the most stylish of restorations, and now combine happily with every modern comfort.  The tile-floored, panel ceilinged dining kitchen, with its free standing units is spacious and well-designed; the tiling and panelling extends to the elegant sitting room which has a splendid wood burner as its focal point.  There is also a downstairs shower room, while upstairs are two excellent bedrooms and a bathroom.  Underfloor heating and that wood burner ensure its cosiness.

Here you are at the eastern end of Loch Kishorn, at the foot of the Applecross mountains, perfectly situated for exploring that amazing peninsula over the spectacular Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle.  Don't forget to schedule in a meal at the Applecross Inn or the Walled Garden while you are there.  To the north, are the Torridon hills, so beloved of climbers and walkers and the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve.

This area just teems with wildlife, from otters and seals in the water to sea eagles and buzzards in the skies above.  With secluded beaches nearby for lazy days on the shore, walking in the hills (they don't all have to be Munros!) or boating and fishing, you will find Yew Tree Cottage perfectly placed for all these activities.

Kishorn village has a Seafood bar and Artists Studios within walking distance of the cottage while Lochcarron (6m) and Shieldaig (8m) both have shops, hotel, cafe etc.

Bed linen, central heating, and electricity are INCLUDED and towels may be hired.  There is a washing machine available for guests in a separate building.  Sorry, no pets and smoking is not permitted in the cottage
