There's no shortage of accommodation both in town and around. Upmarket hotels are thick on the ground, notably around the golf courses, though what many take to be the finest hotel location, the red sandstone building immediately behind the R&A clubhouse and 18th green of the Old Course, is in fact Hamilton Hall, a student residence. There are plenty of guest houses in a central location, notably huddled together around Murray Place and Murray Park, though rooms often get booked up in the summer, when you should definitely book in advance.
