Linthill is an extensive private estate of parklands, ponds and woods, set in the peaceful countryside of the Scottish Borders between Melrose (5m) and Lilliesleaf (1m, pubs, café). It is perfectly placed for tenants to enjoy the many delights of this scenic area.
Tenants are free to walk around the estate, while hardier walkers will find challenges in the form of the nearby Southern Upland and St Cuthbert's Ways, or forays into the quiet Border hills. Fishermen have the choice of local river and lochan fishing, including the Tweed itself, while riding, golf, kayaking and mountain biking are well provided for in the area.
Linthill is just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh (or take the regular bus service from Melrose.) It is also little more than an hour from the coast, the sandy beaches at Coldingham and the dramatic cliffs at St Abbs, with their seabird colonies. The many stately homes, ruined abbeys, and castles (ruined and otherwise) of the region, too, are well worth a visit.
