The Strathtyrum Estate, Near St AndrewsThe unique and historic town of St Andrews has always been a favourite holiday destination for families (lovely beaches and parks, lots to do), for golfers, (so many wonderful courses in a limited area and, of course, the hallowed turf of the R & A itself) and simply for people wishing to relax in lovely surroundings. And, beyond, Fife has an equally interesting hinterland, or there are all the quaint fishing villages of the East Neuk to explore.
The Strathtyrum Estate has a very secluded and peaceful situation amidst woodland and farmland just a mile from the edge of town. Indeed The Farmhouse is closer to many greens of the Old Course than the R & A Clubhouse itself! The centrepiece of the Estate is Strathtyrum House, a lovely sandstone country house, home to an interesting art collection which can be viewed on certain days each month. There are three most comfortable cottages on the Estate: two of which are the upper and lower parts of one spacious house, but so cleverly arranged that neither would know the other was there. The Farmhouse is about half a mile away from these, alone (except for some farm buildings) among the trees.
