***Introductory Comments***
Welcome to the June issue of Uniquely Unspoilt.
The next couple of months will see plenty of outdoor events making the best of rural Scotland?s better weather and longer evenings ? these include the Royal Highland Agricultural Show in Ingliston near Edinburgh, several Highland Games, and even music events ranging from Barra Live on the tiny island of Barra, to T in the Park in Kinross.
I therefore chose this issue?s main article to investigate events at some of Scotland?s most instantly recognisable landmarks ? castles. From productions of Shakespeare to craft fairs and rock pool trips, there?s something for every age, and they also mean everyone can benefit from their world class locations ? if you?ve visited them several times, you can see them in a new light, and if you?ve never been before, an event can be the perfect introduction.
Our guest article this issue features whisky ? a little history, and places to visit. The Whisky Fringe event - a whisky tasting fair organised by Royal Mile Whiskies - is being held in Edinburgh on August 14th.
Please feel free to send in any comments as ever.

*** Main Feature ***
~~ Events at Scottish Castles ~~
Scotland?s castles are some of the finest in the world, and attract thousands of visitors every year. But while they have plenty to offer in their own right ? from the Stone of Destiny to swan ponds and pagodas ? more and more special events are being held in their unique surroundings. Here is a selection of some of the most interesting things to see and do.

***Guest Article***
Our guest article this issue has been written by Kate Wright of Springbank Distillers in Campbeltown.
Here she explains the history of the Scotland?s most famous export, as well as the rich whisky heritage of Campbeltown, the former whisky capital of the world, as well as where to visit to see (and taste) the process for yourself.
~~ Whisky - by Kate Wright ~~
What does Scotland mean to you? Ask any non native Scot that question and though hills, glens, tartan and bagpipes will inevitably feature, you can bet that by far the most common response will be our national drink - whisky that is, not Irn Bru.
The art of whisky distillation is thought to have come to Scotland from Ireland, with early Irish monks bringing their spiritual knowledge to Scotland in more ways than one! The earliest written record of the production of whisky...Full article>>>

***Closing Comments***
The next newsletter will be in August, Scotland?s busiest month, which will see thousands of tourists descending on Edinburgh for the Festival.
However, there is still plenty to do in less busy areas ? other events include more Highland Games, the World Pipe Band Championship and the Strathaven Balloon Festival, which may come as a welcome break if you?re planning a visit to the capital.
Until August,
Emma emma@uniquescotland.com
