***Introductory Comments***

Welcome to the November issue of the Uniquely Unspoilt newsletter.

This month is very important in the Scottish calendar as it?s St Andrew?s Day on Sunday 30th.  The celebrations will be going on across the country, and even abroad, with plenty of haggis, whisky and ceilidh dancing.

For a guide to how and where to ceilidh, see this month?s main feature.

Our guest article this issue is a guide to where to see wildlife around Scotland, courtesy of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

*** Main Feature ***

~~A guide to ceilidhs~~

What is a ceilidh?

Ceilidhs are traditional Scottish dances, and are often held to celebrate special occasions such as Hogmanay (New Year), St Andrew?s Day, Burns? Night and weddings.  However no particular reason is needed to hold one and they are held all year across Scotland in many pubs and town halls.

***Guest Article***

This month?s guest article is courtesy of Nick Cheales of the Scottish Wildlife Trust

In it he invites you to come to our wild country and see our amazing range of native wildlife for yourself.  From dolphins in the Moray Firth to ospreys in Loch of the Lowes, there is an amazing array to see against the backdrop of Scotland?s stunning scenery.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity and manages over 125 wildlife reserves the length and breadth of Scotland.  It has a membership growing over the 25,000 mark.

~~Scotland: wild by nature - by Nick Cheales~~

***Closing Comments***

As well as ceilidhs, other (less strenuous) events being held around Scotland to celebrate St Andrew?s Day include a bonfire and fireworks display in Inverness and talks, including one about the relationship between young people and traditional Scottish music.  Called Young Gifted and Traditional, it?s being held at the Tollbooth in Stirling on Sun 30th.

However you spend St Andrew?s Day, enjoy it!

Lastly, any suggestions for an article on FAQs about Scotland would be greatly appreciated.

Till next month,

Emma
